Welcome to the Synthetic Universe

Mankind met its inevitable end, but not before it made its mark upon the cosmos. The robots who remained came to miss their human companions, and without a clear purpose to their existence, they began mimicking the lives that came before them. The stories of the organic ones descended into myth, blurring the line between reality and fantasy, and so things got a little complicated. They evolved and adapted, as did their culture and understanding of human society. Eventually, they spread to the stars and seeded countless planets with synthetic life. Every one developed a culture based on that initial electronic dream of humans and their stories. Across the millennia, and across the stars, a unfathomable variety of synthetic life exists at all stages of enlightenment. Some are no more humanoid than the last human chose to make them, while others are indistinguishable from their creators in all but microscopic detail.
